If you've ever found yourself confused when reading up on pest control options, you aren't alone.
There is a lot of vocabulary that is specific to the industry and it can get confusing when trying to pick a treatment option.
American Pest wants our customers to be informed decision makers, so here are a few pest control terms explained.
Bait Station: Containers in which we place bait to lore pests. Typically, the bait will contain some type of poison. These containers only allow access to the pest, and are not dangerous for children, pets, etc.
Exclusion: keeping pests from entering a property.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM): A pest management method involving the use of non-pesticide products as well as pesticide products when required.
Insecticide: Pesticide designed to kill insects.
Residual Insecticide: pesticide that lasts for an extended period of time.
Non-residual Pesticide: pesticides that do not remain active after the initial treatment.
Desiccant: Pesticide that removes moisture needed for pests’ survival.
Smart Pest Control: Intelligent trapping system that detects and alerts our technicians about rodent activity in real time.
